The chemical used for Botox comes with crystalline substance preparation from the manufacturer. This can be reconstituted with saline preparation or another type of neutral liquid. The physician can prepare any amount of Botox solution however they usually use about 2 to 3 ml.

After this, the patient is basically placed in a somewhat raised position on the exam table. The face or the areas to be injected are cleansed with an antiseptic, could be Betadine or Hibiclens.

Depending on the area as well as the physician, topical anesthetics may be applied. It is usually in the form of cream with EMLA cream as the usual choice. After the process of injections, the patient is advised to lay upright or semi-upright for 5 minutes.

Typically, the patient is advised not to lie for two to four hours. In the chance of bruising, one should avoid taking aspirin or related products to avoid bleeding.
